For the current year, the company is expecting a further enormous increase of sales - over 300%.
As one of the leading producers of high-quality storage technology, MediaRange will take its place among the top exhibitioners at the RetailVision Europe trade fair in London (May 10–12, 2010, Sofitel London Heathrow). Partners and customers will be able to obtain a personal impression of the excellent attributes of the MediaRange portfolio during the course of the B2B event. A special focus will be on the Blu-ray recordable media sector, which, according to business analysts, will celebrate its final triumph in 2010. After all, Blu-ray discs offer an unrivalled ratio of price/storage volume. MediaRange belongs to the few companies that have actively supported this media since 2007. This early entry into the market was risky, but sales records and product awards proved that the company made the right decision.
The positive forecast is due to several factors: First of all, the prices for Blu-ray hardware are falling sharply leading to increased demand. For this reason, the Federal Association for Information Technology, Telecommunications and New Media (BITKOM) predicts that Europe-wide turnover for BD players will rise to 890 million Euros this year. That is an increase of approximately 70%. In Germany, the increase will be about 50% in comparison with last year. Thereby, the turnover for corresponding data storage media will also increase. The Japan Recording-Media Industries Association (JRIA) anticipates at least 98 million BD-Rs to be sold – 310 million by 2012. Blu-ray is not only the new standard in our living rooms. Today, BD-ROM drives or burners are also found in most desktop PCs and Notebooks. Additionally, more and more games and films are appearing in the advantageous Blu-ray format. In short: 2010 will definitely be the year of the Blu-ray. Naturally, this will be evident by further sinking prices for BD-Rs.
